The Moore Family Trust Foundation is humbled and honored to establish an endowed scholarship at the University of Georgia in Athens in memory of William Harold Edwards Jr.
The William Harold Edwards Jr. Scholarship Endowment honors William’s life and legacy by furthering something of enduring consequence: the possibility of education.
We believe that education does more than impart knowledge. It develops the human mind—the capacity to question, to reason, to discover, and, perhaps most importantly, to recognize what is wrong and possess the courage and ability to change its course.
William understood the extraordinary potential of people. Throughout his life, he believed that opportunity, when joined with determination and intellect, could alter not only the direction of an individual’s life but the lives of generations that follow.
It is in that spirit that this endowment is established.
Through the University of Georgia, the Moore Family Trust Foundation hopes to provide deserving students with greater access to education and the freedom to pursue their potential without allowing financial circumstance alone to determine the limits of their aspirations.
For our Chairman, Randal G. “Ran” Moore, this endowment carries a profoundly personal meaning. While no endowment can adequately memorialize a life, it can allow that life to continue creating opportunity for others.
William’s name will therefore remain associated with something he valued deeply: human potential and the opportunity to make a difference.
The greatest memorials are not simply those that preserve a name. They are those that enable another person to learn, to think, to achieve—and ultimately to change the course of what might otherwise have been.

Only the curious will learn and only the resolute will overcome the obstacles to learning. The quest quotient has always excited me more than the intelligence quotient.
